Seafood Pizza Recipe: A Taste of the Ocean
Description
Seafood pizza is a delicious and luxurious way to enjoy the flavors of the ocean combined with the comfort of a classic pizza. Topped with a variety of seafood such as shrimp, scallops, mussels, and squid, this pizza brings together the best of both worlds – the savory goodness of seafood and the crispy, cheesy indulgence of pizza. Seafood pizza is particularly popular in coastal regions where fresh seafood is abundant, such as the Mediterranean, Italy, and parts of the United States. It’s perfect for seafood lovers and anyone looking for a sophisticated twist on their regular pizza.
Ingredients
- 1 pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 cup tomato sauce (or use white sauce like garlic cream sauce for a richer flavor)
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup cooked shrimp, peeled and deveined
- ½ cup cooked scallops, chopped
- ½ cup mussels (cooked or fresh)
- ¼ cup squid rings (optional)
- 1 small red onion, thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic, minced
- ½ teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper (to taste)
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Process
- Preheat the oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, preheat for 20 minutes.
- Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness and shape. Place it on a baking sheet or pizza stone.
- Spread a thin layer of tomato sauce or white garlic cream sauce over the pizza dough.
- Top with shredded mozzarella cheese, spreading it evenly across the dough.
- Arrange the seafood: place the shrimp, scallops, mussels, and squid evenly over the cheese.
- Add the thinly sliced red onion for a little sweetness and flavor contrast.
- Season the pizza with minced garlic, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Drizzle with olive oil for extra richness.
- Bake the pizza for 10-12 minutes, or until the crust is golden and crispy, and the seafood is cooked through.
- Remove from the oven and garnish with freshly chopped parsley. Slice and serve hot for a taste of the ocean!
